Cyber Monday 2015 the biggest online sales day ever.”
Cyber Monday is being reported to be the biggest-ever online sales day in the USA, surpassing $3 billion in a single day for the first time, and up 16% on last year.
Retailers heavily promoted Black Friday and Cyber Monday in the UK and Europe as well, aiming to make it a trans-Atlantic retail event.
E-commerce analyst firms are reporting that UK consumers spent 36% more online on Black Friday this year, according to Internet Retailer:
The Brits don’t celebrate U.S. Thanksgiving, but over the past couple of years retailers have conditioned them to expect sales on Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving). This year, consumers responded by spending 1.1 billion pounds ($1.64 billion) on Black Friday, up 35.8% from 810 million pounds in the same period a year ago, according to data from IMRG and web measurement firm Experian.”
