Food Nutrition Labelling for the USA

FDA Food Labeling Guide

Food products being offered for sale to consumers in the USA must be labelled according to US FDA regulations. The FDA publishes a Food Labelling Guide, available online and as a downloadable PDF document.

One of the specific requirements is that the nutritional information must be shown in a panel headed up “Nutrition Facts”. Labels designed for other countries that might use terms such as “Nutrition Information” may not be allowable.

For some products the U.S. importer or distributor name and address may also be required to be shown. For products being exported to the USA with ExportX, our U.S. company World Wide Access USA, Inc. is the importer of record.

Small business exemption

In some cases an exemption to these labelling requirements might be available, for products sold in volumes less than 100,000 units per year by companies with fewer than 100 employees.

Exemptions must be applied for, and obtained, for each product prior to export.

To apply for product exemptions visit the FDA Small Business Nutrition Labeling Exemption web pages for the proper forms.
