Headlines in the e-commerce trade press are trumpeting new records in online retail spending in the USA in the 2013 ‘holiday season’, the lead up to Christmas including Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Featuring in the press is the huge growth in weekend online sales, which hints at a significant change in consumer shopping behaviour.
Analyst firm comScore is reporting 2013 holiday season online sales up 20.6% on last year, and announced the first ever week with all five weekdays each achieving over $1 billion in online sales.
