Germany is the world’s fourth-biggest e‑commerce market, with online retail sales of 27.6 billion euros, according to a new report ‘The E‑Commerce Market in Germany‘ published by German trade agency Germany Trade & Invest.
European online retail overall was reported as 112 billion euros in 2012, which means that Germany alone represents one-quarter of e‑commerce in Europe, with 41 million online shoppers, 50% of the nation’s population.
Amazon.de is the largest online retailer in Germany. In 2012 Amazon reported USD$8.7 billion sales in Germany. Germany is Amazon’s second biggest market.
