Online Christmas Shopping Sets New Sales Record

Dominion 'Kate' waterproof sheepskin bootMonday 17 December was a new record sales day for New Zealand products in the USA sold through World Wide Access. Bigger than Cyber Monday, bigger than Cyber Tuesday.

The new record day included standout sales of Dominion sheepskin boots, New Zealand bee venom face creams, Citta Design designer homeware, and baby products from Merino Kids, Mumi&Bubi, Nature Baby, Brolly Sheets, Safe T Sleep and others.

Overall online shopping in the USA is being reported at 12-13% up year on year by major ecommerce analysts such as ComScore and Chase Paymentech, confirming that ecommerce is continuing to grow much faster than bricks-and-mortar retail.

17 December was the last online shopping Monday before Christmas. Christmas Eve is a Monday but is not considered a strong online shopping day because most orders would not be delivered in time for Christmas.

Looking back, our 2011 record sales day was 19 December, also the last online shopping Monday before Christmas. It would seem the Cyber Monday hype could be misplaced; it seems the week before Christmas is now the time when American shoppers spend the most online.
